GDPR Compliance Announcement

The European Union’s latest personal data policy regulation (GDPR) has changed how internet companies across the world conduct, manage and secure their business. Read on to find out why it’s important and how YAROOMS is ready to help you manage your room booking process in a GDPR-compliant manner.

Starting tomorrow, 25th of May, the General Data Protection Regulation comes into full effect. As you may have noted, a lot of companies - YAROOMS included - have emailed you regarding their privacy policy changes. Some may have asked you to re-subscribe to their newsletter/ service to allow them to continue sending you various types of messages.

If you’re using any kind of meeting room booking system and plan to have users in the EU, you must make sure you are GDPR compliant as well - you are, after all, processing their data. As such, there are a couple of things you should be aware of:

  • YAROOMS allows you to define a Data Protection Officer (under Account > Global Settings)
  • All your users will have to accept our Privacy Policy on their first login
  • All YAROOMS data is encrypted at rest
  • If your company requires us to sign a DPA (data protection agreement), all you have to do is get in touch with one of our reps and we’ll gladly help out

We are aware this new regulation can seem difficult to navigate, and as such we expect a lot of related inquiries in the following days - rest assured, we’re more than happy to help you sort things out.

If you’re in the EU or have users on your YAROOMS account who are EU citizens, you can get in touch with us from within your account. Simply log on to your account and, in the top right corner of your screen, click on the “?” and then on “Get support”. We’ll be in touch as soon as possible thereafter.
